BAR ADMISSIONS CEREMONY APPLICATION

APPLICATION FORM

The Bar Admissions Ceremony application form must be completed and emailed to the Court Administrator's Office by April 5, 2024. Submission email address can be found on the application. Applicants who submit applications after the deadline will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony.

BAR ADMISSIONS CEREMONY ORDER AND PETITION

SAMPLE PETITION & ORDER

Please do not submit the order and the petition with the application. Please bring the order and the petition to the ceremony. The Petitioner and the Movant/Sponsor must be present for the ceremony.

  1. The Petition for Admission shall recite:
    1. The name and educational background of the petitioner;
    2. That the petitioner has been admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania (an exhibit evidencing that admission must be attached);
    3. A representation that the petitioner is either a resident of, or intends to maintain or currently maintains an office for the practice of law in Lehigh County;
  2. The sponsor/movant must be a member in good standing of the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and the Bar of Lehigh County.
  3. The Petition shall include:
    1. The signatures of the petitioner and the sponsor;
    2. A proposed Order of Court which shall bear the names of each commissioned judge of the court on one page;

Instructions for Bar Admission at a Time Other Than the Annual Ceremony

  1. Bar admissions may also occur any day in Motion Court, provided the motion judge is contacted prior to the date on which the petition is to be presented. The Court Administrator's Office can provide the petitioner with the name of the judge who is assigned to Motion Court;
  2. When the bar admission occurs during Motion Court, the petitioner and the movant must be present in Motion Court when the petition is presented to the Court;
  3. When the bar admission occurs during Motion Court, the petitioner is responsible for obtaining the signatures of all of the commissioned judges of the Court of Common Pleas;
  4. When the bar admission occurs during Motion Court, the original of the petition and the order are to be filed with the Clerk of Judicial Records-Civil Division.
